About Our Sign Making Process
100% of the sign making process is completed in our Keaau, Hawaii studio. Each project begins with the graphic design of your sign art. We can custom create a sign design based on your concept and specs, or we can work with an existing logo design. Once the artwork is approved, we build your sign blank using premium Cedar or Basswood. Cedar is intended for both exterior & interior applications, and Basswood for interior only. When the sign blank is ready, we begin rough carving your wooden sign with CNC machines and then finish the carving by hand using chisels, gouges and rotary tools. We then sand to a smooth finish. When carving and sanding are complete, we paint, stain and seal your sign for either exterior or interior application. When the finishes and seal coats are dry, we complete the process by building a custom crate and shipping to your home or business.

My name is Scott Zuziak. I own and operate Hawaii Wood Signs. Before moving to Hawaii in 2020, I started my sign studio endeavor in the Chicagoland suburbs in 2011. In 2016, my wife and I purchased an acre of land in Keaau Hawaii and started building our future home and workshop. My sign studio and home is now on the windward side of the Big Island.
